How to Write a Yacht Crew CV That Gets You Hired
A yacht CV is unlike any other. Here is exactly what to include, what to cut, and the formatting that recruiters and captains expect.

Your CV is often the only thing standing between you and an interview. Yacht CVs follow their own conventions, and getting them right dramatically improves your chances.
Keep it to one page
Captains and recruiters scan dozens of CVs. One clean, well-organised page beats a detailed two-pager every time.
Include a professional photo
Unlike most industries, a clear, friendly headshot is expected on a yacht CV. Dress smart-casual, smile, and use a plain background.
Lead with the essentials
Near the top, list your nationality, visa status, certifications (STCW, ENG1 and role-specific tickets), and availability. Recruiters need these facts immediately.
Show relevant experience
Highlight hospitality, cleaning, trades, watersports or service experience. For each role, focus on transferable skills: attention to detail, teamwork, working long hours and guest service.
References and contact
Include contactable references and a reliable phone and email. Make sure your WhatsApp is active — it is how the industry communicates.
Formatting that works
Use a clean, consistent layout, save as a PDF, and name the file with your name and role. Avoid clutter and gimmicks. If you want a professional review, our CV support can help you polish it before you start applying.
