Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

The Crew Atelier ("we", "us", "our") is operated by a sole trader trading as Marinax Global, providing concierge services to aspiring and current yacht crew. We act as the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.

Contact for any privacy matter: concierge@thecrewatelier.com

2. What data we collect

  • Inquiry & booking data: name, email, phone/WhatsApp, location, preferred rank, experience, preferred date and time, and any notes you submit.
  • Communication data: emails, WhatsApp messages and call notes exchanged with us.
  • Technical data: IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited (collected only via essential or consented cookies — see our Cookie Policy).

3. Why we use it & legal basis

  • To respond to inquiries and deliver bookings — legal basis: performance of a contract or pre-contractual steps (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)).
  • To send transactional emails (booking confirmations, payment details) — performance of a contract.
  • To improve our service and website — legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)), where these do not override your rights.
  • To comply with legal and tax obligations — legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)).
  • Marketing / analytics cookies — only with your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time.

4. Who we share it with

We never sell your data. We share it only with processors strictly necessary to run the service:

  • Email delivery provider (transactional emails sent from notify.thecrewatelier.com).
  • Hosting and database infrastructure (EU/EEA-based where possible).
  • Payment processors (bank, Revolut, PayPal) when you choose to pay.
  • Where you ask us to: training schools, visa offices, or yacht recruiters relevant to your booking.

Some providers may process data outside the EEA; in that case we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards.

5. How long we keep it

  • Inquiry data with no booking: 12 months, then deleted.
  • Booking and client records: duration of the engagement plus 5 years for accounting and legal purposes.
  • Marketing consent records: until you withdraw consent.

6. Your rights (GDPR)

You have the right to:

  • Access the data we hold about you.
  • Request correction or deletion ("right to be forgotten").
  • Restrict or object to processing.
  • Data portability.
  • Withdraw consent at any time (for analytics/marketing cookies).
  • Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — for example, the CNIL in France (www.cnil.fr).

To exercise any of these, email concierge@thecrewatelier.com. We respond within 30 days.

7. Security

We use TLS encryption in transit, restricted access controls, and reputable processors. No system is 100% secure; we will notify affected users and the relevant authority within 72 hours of any qualifying breach.

8. Changes to this policy

We will post updates on this page and revise the "last updated" date. Material changes will be notified by email where appropriate.
