Built from lived experience — not from the outside looking in.
The Crew Atelier exists because we walked the docks ourselves, watched too many new crew lose thousands on packages they didn't need, and decided to build the support system we wish we'd had on day one.

A life shaped by the ocean.
I grew up on the water. Fishing, sailing, diving, travelling — chasing a life connected to the ocean was always part of who I was. Yachting eventually became more than just a career path. It became the way I completely changed my life.
It gave me the chance to work internationally, experience over 50 countries, meet people from every background imaginable, and build a future that felt bigger than the one I thought was available to me growing up in South Africa.
But getting in was overwhelming.
Like most new crew, I quickly realised how much misinformation exists around getting started. People spend thousands on courses they don't actually need, receive outdated advice, and are often sold dreams without proper guidance. There's a huge gap between what aspiring crew are told and what actually matters when trying to land a job onboard.
The Crew Atelier started because I wanted to create the kind of support system I wish existed when I first entered yachting — honest, independent, modern, and genuinely focused on helping people make smart decisions. Not selling unnecessary packages. Not pushing commission-based training. Just real guidance from people who understand the industry from experience.
From WhatsApp groups to a concierge.
What began as helping friends with CVs, visas, dockwalking strategy and course planning slowly evolved into something much bigger. There was space for a more refined, personalised approach to yacht crew careers — something that felt less like a recruitment agency and more like a concierge service for building a life in yachting.
A collective, not one person.
The Crew Atelier is not built around one person — it's built around a collective of industry professionals who understand different sides of yachting firsthand. Our network includes stewardesses, deckhands, chief officers, captains, recruiters and experienced crew across multiple departments who contribute real insight, practical advice, and current industry knowledge. The best guidance comes from people actively working within the industry — not from generic templates or outdated systems.
Why we do it.
Today, The Crew Atelier exists to help crew navigate the industry with clarity and confidence. From training pathways and visas to CVs, onboarding and career guidance, our goal is simple: help people enter yachting smarter, faster, and with the right foundation to build a long-term career at sea.
At its core, The Crew Atelier is about opportunity. Because yachting changed our lives — and we know it has the power to change other people's lives too.
Four principles, no exceptions.
Built from lived experience
Every recommendation comes from someone who has done the job — not from a brochure or a commission sheet.
Independent, always
We take zero commission from training schools. Our advice is dictated by your career, not someone else's margin.
A collective, not a person
Stews, deckhands, chief officers, captains and recruiters contribute real, current insight — across departments and hubs.
Refined & personal
Less recruitment agency, more concierge. Every plan is built around your timeline, budget and goals — never templates.

Antibes. Palma. Antigua. Fort Lauderdale. Cape Town. Brazil.
We operate from the main hubs of the global yachting season — so we can meet crew face-to-face, walk the docks, and stay close to the captains and agencies who actually hire.
